Holland Store Hosts Its Grand Opening

By Mary Winowiecki, Cherry Republic

Cherry Republic’s newest retail location — this one in beautiful downtown Holland, Michigan — threw a grand Grand Opening on Friday, June 16, 2017.

Eager customers, members of the West Coast Chamber of Commerce, the media, and even Boomer the Bear were all on hand to christen the new store. The celebration included appetizer and baked goods samplings, free wine tastings, customer giveaways, and 20 percent off select products.

The morning was highlighted by the presentation of a $2,500 donation to the Outdoor Discovery Center Macatawa Greenway. Travis Williams, the Center’s executive director, was on hand to accept the check. “The Outdoor Discovery Center fits perfectly with our philosophy of connecting with nature,” Sutherland explained. “It’s right in line with our motto of ‘Life, Liberty, Beaches and Pie.’”

The new store, located in the former Yeta’s dress shop, features more than 200 cherry-themed products and features a wine and soda tasting bar. It has experienced strong sales since its soft opening on April 14, according to Cherry Republic Regional Embassy Manager Katie Peugeot.

“We’ve received a really warm welcome,” Peugeot said. “There’s a lot of brand recognition in Holland — 50 to 60 percent of the customers coming into the store already know and love us. It’s been a seamless transition.”

In honor of the Holland opening, all of Cherry Republic’s store locations — including Glen Arbor, Traverse City, Ann Arbor and Frankenmuth — offered complimentary wine tasting, 20 percent off select products, and free gift with purchase on Saturday, June 17.

“It’s a treat to be a part of all that’s happening in this part of Southwest Michigan,” Sutherland says. “We’re looking forward to playing a role in driving even more visitors to this area.”
