A week ago, a blanket of snow covered the ground, but throughout the past few days, the weather has been spectacular, providing the perfect mix of blue skies and brilliant sunshine. The change in weather not only has us confused, but Boomer the Bear is quite baffled as well. We ran into him out on a hike the other day when he said, “I thought I was ready to sleep away the next few months, but I really just want to keep exploring!” Being in Northern Michigan, it’s just a matter of time before Boomer’s adventures come to a halt for a few months. But, what if they didn’t have to? What if Boomer could adventure with you and skip hibernation?
In an ode to our friend Flat Stanley, we have created Flat Boomer. This particular series in Boomer’s life is called Boomer’s Winter Getaway. With your help, we can give Boomer the adventure of a lifetime this winter and create countless memories with our lovely Citizens of the Republic. Boomer doesn’t care if he’s visiting different parts of Michigan, skiing with you in Colorado, strolling the beaches of California, or eating lobster with you in Maine, he’s just looking forward to hanging with you and getting to experience new things. Will you help fulfill Boomer’s quest and help us document Boomer’s adventures this winter?
It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3! Here’s how it works:
- Choose from one of four printable Boomer .pdfs (or take all 4, he won’t mind!) and print out at home or your local library.
- Cut Boomer out.
- Decorate your Flat Boomer if you’d like. Using a marker, you can draw & color shorts on Boomer, a shirt, a hat, etc.
- We recommend taping or glueing Boomer to a popsicle stick, but if you don’t have that at home, Boomer is happy to accompany you without the stick.
And voila, Boomer is ready to go! Take Boomer along with you to your favorite landmarks, restaurant, dinner at your Grandparents, etc. The fate of Boomer’s adventure is in your hands.
