‘Sustain’ Sparkling Cherry Wine To Benefit GLBN

MAWBY Sparkling in Suttons Bay and Cherry Republic in Glen Arbor share a love of Northern Michigan and its natural beauty. And now they share something else to cheer about. For the first time, the two have collaborated to produce a limited-edition wine. But not just any wine. MAWBY and Cherry Republic have created a unique blend of cherry and sparkling white wine called ‘Sustain’ to benefit the Great Lakes Business Network.

Comprising 60% cherry wine and 40% sparkling white grape wine, Sustain will be available beginning Friday, June 24, exclusively at Cherry Republic’s Traverse City and Glen Arbor retail locations, as well as at MAWBY’s Suttons Bay winery and at MAWBY.wine. The wine will sell for $23 with $10 from each sale going toward the Great Lakes Business Network.

We’re really excited to partner with MAWBY, a truly great Northern Michigan company, in support of the Great Lakes Business Network and all the good work they do to protect the Great Lakes. And what better way to celebrate the partnership than with a one-of-a-kind cherry sparkling wine that highlights the best of Northern Michigan?

— Bob Sutherland, Cherry Republic

What is the Great Lakes Business Network?

The non-partisan Great Lakes Business Network is a network of business leaders committed to protecting the Great Lakes region from threats to the natural environment. They strive to be the leading business voice for protecting the health and vitality of the Great Lakes and the economy, businesses and communities that depend upon them — including working hard to shut down the Line 5 Oil Pipeline that runs under the Straits of Mackinac. Cherry Republic is a long-time supporter of their efforts, especially during the company’s annual 31 Days of Giving campaign. Bob Sutherland is a co-chair of GLBN’s executive committee along with Juliette King McAvoy from King Orchards in Antrim County.

Great Lakes Business Network welcomes this incredible partnership opportunity, in collaboration with two founding members, which will provide support and visibility for our campaigns to protect the Great Lakes and the blue economy that depends upon them. We are proud to work with businesses leading for clean water.

What kind of wine is MAWBY known for?

MAWBY is famous for its range of sparkling wines that offer tastes to suit most any palate, each uniquely approachable, each with their own personality. They ferment all of their sparkling wines and ciders twice, and none of their bottled products are carbonated. MAWBY Sparkling fans are affectionately known as ‘Bubbleheads’ and many belong to the winery’s FIZZ Club.

We are thrilled to partner with another like-minded business to raise awareness for the GLBN.  Both Cherry Republic and MAWBY are committed to the SUSTAINability of agriculture on the Leelanau Peninsula and the Great Lakes region. The GLBN has helped amplify our voices in pursuit of that, and we are excited to spread the word even more broadly through this collaboration.
