Pick Which Charities We Donate $1,000 To

Service Saturday

On Saturday, December 6, we gave each of our retail stores $1,000 to donate to one of six charities. We asked you to vote on which charity would get each store’s donation.

The results have been tallied, and we’re happy to share the good news below.

Glen Arbor

Winning our Glen Arbor store’s $1,000 donation is the Leelanau Conservancy. The Conservancy was established in 1988 to support, in a balanced manner, the preservation of the natural beauty, ecological integrity and working farms of the Leelanau Peninsula.

Traverse City

The voting action was intense in Traverse City as two charities vied for the top spot and the $1,000. In fact, it was so close that we ended with a tie! The Cherryland Humane Society and the Women’s Resource Center will split the $1,000 and get $500 each.

The Woman’s Resource Center began in 1975 as a grassroots effort to serve survivors of domestic and sexual violence, utilizing an all-volunteer staff. The WRC opened its first emergency shelter in 1984.

The Cherryland Humane Society works to provide a bright and positive future for all pets. Searching for and seizing upon opportunities to provide lasting help and a positive future for pets. Rescuing the lost, finding homes for the homeless, providing hope for the hopeless.

Ann Arbor

Animal welfare proved popular in Ann Arbor too, with the Michigan Humane Society racking up the most votes and earning the $1,000 donation. The Michigan Humane Society is a charitable 501(c) 3 animal welfare organization and is the largest and oldest animal welfare organization in the state, caring for tens of thousands of animals each year.

Charlevoix

It was a close race at our northernmost outpost too. In the end it was the Charlevoix Food Pantry that picked up the $1,000 from our Charlevoix store. The Charlevoix Food Pantry collects and distributes food to those in need in Charlevoix

The Contenders

We’d like to thank everyone who voted. It’s a testament to both our customers and how wonderful these organizations are that every charity had a least 10 votes. While these fabulous charities didn’t win the donation this time, we hope to be able to support all of them in the future:

Thanks to everyone who came in and voted!
