2016 Cherry Barter - Up North Blog

In 2014 we had a Cherry Republic barter and it was so much fun getting everyone’s “misfit” gifts we thought we’d do it again. And thank goodness this is over! We had about 20 people that wanted to barter with us, which means a lot of you were very good in 2015 and got what you asked for. Obviously, some of you didn’t and elected to trade with us for cherry goodness.

So far the oddities and items of interest we have received are impressive what people are willing to part with. However that is likely the reason they call it bartering and there is a fine art to it.

PS: Don’t forget not to get upset because it is the thought of the gift you received that counts; but for our bartering purposes it is the humor factor that counts.

Without further delay here are the items we’ve received.

Thanks to Arlene’s husband getting two packages of Tattoupées for Christmas from two separate people; she was able to barter one package of them for some cherry loot. These are temporary tattoos are for the head of the follically challenged. These by far are the item everyone will fight over in our meeting.

We are struggling at Cherry Republic how Maria Lee could part with a Florida Gators wallet, Steven Madden leg warmers and a black squirrel winter hat. I have a feeling she’ll be disappointed when leg warmers come back in style…along with the move Flash Dance.

Thanks to Anita she single highhandedly completed our holiday list with a trade of a used Oster blender with previous leftover still on the blender. Could it be leftover Bloody Mary or smoothie…who knows?

Winter this year will feel a lot less like winter with a pair of toasty wool slippers courteous of Cindy. Her intolerance to wool is our gain and someone is walking away with some warm tootsies.
