Social distancing is difficult any time of year, but at the holidays we long to be close to family and friends more than ever. We asked our Cherry Republic family what some of their favorite holiday traditions are and how they might look different this year. The consensus? We might have to be apart physically, but our spirits are more closely intertwined than ever.
Todd Gyulveszi, Cherry Republic’s product manager (pictured above with his wife Jane), shared this fun story with us, proving that lasting friendship is the best gift of all.
“This will mark the 20th year of our annual ‘Re-Gifting of the Fruitcake’ with our great friends Bob and Frann Beckel.
It started in 2000 when my wife, Jane, and I gave Bob and Frann a fruitcake, and the following year they re-gifted it to us. Since then it’s been a yearly thing! We started writing the year on the Fruitcake box, and Jane (a retired librarian), added a library card for the dates.
Each year when we receive or send it, it creates great conversation about fond memories of the past. We will give them a call the day it is received back in our house this holiday season.”
