Fall In Love With Holland

We have a saying in the Republic that cherries don’t grow in ugly places, and the same can be said for the hometowns of our six Cherry Republic retail stores. And our Holland, Michigan, store is a prime example.

Holland’s iconic Big Red Lighthouse has stood watch over the town’s harbor for nearly 100 years and can be viewed from Holland State Park or nearby Mt. Pisgah. And Windmill Island Gardens is home to the only authentic Dutch windmill operating in the US. (Tip: It’s beautiful in the fall, but be sure to return in the spring to witness 100,000 tulips in bloom!)

Holland’s Windmill Island Gardens puts on their show each spring.

We caught up with Cherry Republic Store Manager, Tracee Leeka, and Assistant Manager, Andie Long, to find out how the fall is going and what they love most about the Holland area.

Q: How is Cherry Republic’s fall season going?

Fall is going great here in Holland! The leaves are changing and we love having our autumn seasonal products return to the Republic.

Q: What do you love to do in the Holland area when you’re not at Cherry Republic?

Tracee: I love taking walks in the fall and going apple picking.
Andie: I love going to the Downtown Holland Farmers Market in the Fall, and I love hiking in the cool weather and seeing all the fall colors.

Q: What’s one of your favorite businesses/restaurants in Holland?

Tracee: One of my favorite restaurants in Big Lake Brewery. They have great burgers and tater tots! Their beer is pretty great, too.
Andie: I love Hops at 84 East in Downtown Holland. They have amazing margarita flights and a rotating ‘Community Pizza’ that always has fun toppings.

The Fire Truck Parade rolls through Downtown Holland on Oct. 7.

Q: What are you looking forward to this fall at the Holland store?

We’re really excited to welcome back some of our favorite fall products, including our Harvest Boomchunka Cookies and our Organic Cherry Apple Butter.

This autumn treat features only organic apples, cherries, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and fair trade cane sugar.

We are also both looking forward to the many Downtown Holland events on tap!
